Hill Top Christmas update
Well it’s been a busy year for Hill Top Surgery and looks set to continue into 2013
We can confirm that we hope to be moving to our new premises on Fircroft Road in March 2013. This will help us massively in improving the services we provide and be our permanent home. We’re really looking forward to settling in and welcoming our patients to this new facility.

Hill Top in the Community
Christmas Hamper Appeal This will be the third year that we are working with the Salvation Army and Eden Project in delivering Christmas Hampers to families and individuals who have had a naff year and could do with a boost. If you have any further donations please could they be received in the surgery by Monday 17th December so they can be distributed in time for Christmas.
Our Autumn Community Funday on 4th November saw over 200 people join us at the Youth Centre adjacent to our new site and raised £173 which we have donated to the hamper appeal. The Tombola was as popular as ever and this year our Fairground theme included a coconut shie, fresh popcorn, bouncy castle, face painting a live music from local band Silver City. Our highlight was being able to present our annual Patient Awards to 6 patients who have made significant efforts to improve their health or that of their families. Well done to all our winners!
This year we have worked with the Hill Top Patient Group to run two Community Heartstart Courses and we are very grateful to our partnership with the Rotary Club of Oldham supported by the British Heart Foundation which looks set to continue into the future.
Our Inspire Social drop in group also helped us to raise over £100 for
Macmillan Cancer Relief’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning as part of our “Flu with a Brew” Campaign. Many thanks to everyone who’s played a part in the surgery and helping others this year!

Staffing wise we were delighted to welcome Dr Andrew Elliott to the team in November and are looking forward to Dr Pieroni returning to us from maternity leave in the spring.

On Monday 28th May the construction team arrived at our new site and began to dig the foundations of our new surgery on Fircroft Road, just round the corner from our current site.
Built as an extension to the newly opened Fitton Hill Youth and Community Centre the new surgery will provide up to 7 consulting rooms, a community room, counselling rooms and improved back room staff space at the heart of Fitton Hill community. It is built in partnership with Community 1st Oldham and should be ready for us to move in by early 2013.

Community Events
Every Wednesday Carole Hill our Healthcare Assistant and Community Advocate runs a social drop-in called Inspire at the Villages centre where anyone can come to make friends, join in with an activity and have fun.
Each Monday Carole and Kelly from the Eden Youth Project also run Baby Boogies where pre-school children can dance and boogie with their parents for exercise and fun and a story. This is also run at the Villages Centre on Fircroft Road.
Each year we hold a Community Funday with a Bouncy Castle, Face painting, tombola, BBQ, and this year our friends from Inspire ran our Tea and Cake tent. This is in partnership with the Eden Youth Project and Salvation Army.
We also had the priveledge to honour 7 of our patients who have made very positive steps towards improving their own health and that of their families through our Patient of the Year Awards.

After last year’s success we will also be holding our annual Christmas Carol Service. More details to follow on this year’s celebrations shortly.
Last year our Community Nurse in conjunction with the Salvation Army oversaw the delivering of Christmas Hampers to local families who really need and appreciate an extra gift at Christmas. The Surgery will again be able to accept donations for these hampers. If you have any items you would like to contribute please give these to reception.
If you have any questions about our community events or would like a representative to come to your local gathering to give information on any aspect of health please contact the surgery.
